Fixing the Roof!

To help deal with the leaking roof we found out that we needed to clean the debris off. Jeff was pretty sure that the termite infested roof wouldn't hold him and so we asked the lightest member of our family to climb the ladder to the roof, Zach. He did a wonderful job. He brushed the leaves and branches off so the water could run off and not sit and then leak through. Everything was going along fine until from inside the house Quintin and I heard a loud "crash!" Zach's leg had come through the roof. He handled it very well and even finished cleaning off the rest of the leaves. Jeff found some old clay tiles and with Zach's help they repaired the roof. We hope the repair job will keep the rain out. It continues to amaze us how much maintance everything here requires. It's as if the jungle is determined to reclaim the land it once enjoyed.

  1. Hey it’s Justin Tharp!!! I’m an eighth grader this year and one of Quintin’s old friends, and also one of Mrs. Seltzers’ students! Hey Quintin! Hey Mrs. Seltzer! I've read over your blog and I see that you've been very busy! I'm glad that you are serving God! Since you have left, quite a few of us have considered following your family’s path and serving God in any way that we can. We have missed you soooooo much since you all have left! This year we still have many of our old classmates but also many new ones. The guys (me, Kade, Schell, Talyx, and Bryce) are really missing being able to go to your house at lunch to play basketball! We all really miss you and hope you keep on showing people all that you know about God! We hope to hear more about your life in Indonesia! Have fun!!!

    Sincerely,
    Justin Tharp

  2. You know guys, you didn't say but I was thinking if you were fixing in true farmer fashion learned in the good old corn belt, some sort of tape and wire would have to be involved, and if you'd have thrown in a tube of JB Weld, that would've been a completion of trifecta of the farmers toolkit. That would've been awesome. Been thinking about you. Hope all is well and tell Zach I'll pray that he doesn't fall through the roof, or for that matter have to go up there at all. Blessings.
